My journey to a leaner body!

OK, this is day 8 of my super charge metabolism diet. Yesterday was a fruit all day diet, I couldn't do it, I had to have some lean protein with the fruit. But the scale was kind to me today!
Yesterday I did a good 40 minutes of cardio, P90X Cardio. And today is a weight training day.
Last week was high protein and lower carbs, this week is going to be a higher carb week.
So wish me luck! Man, it's not easy getting these pounds off!

Diet Soda Linked to Heart Disease Risk

Diet soda may seem to be a healthier alternative to calorie-laden regular soda, but a new study shows that people who regularly drink diet soft drinks may be putting their hearts at risk.

Those who drank diet soda on a daily basis were at an increased risk of experiencing stroke, heart attack and death due to these conditions, according to the study.

"Our results suggest a potential association between daily diet soft drink consumption and vascular outcomes," study researcher Hannah Gardener, an epidemiologist at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine, said in a statement.[5 Experts Answer: Is Diet Soda Bad for You?]

My journey to a leaner body!

OK, can you be lean at 60 years old? It is not hard to maintain a lean healthy body! However, if you let yourself get out of shape, quit exercising, gain weight -- especially after 50 years old it can be like pulling teeth! And if you do lose a few pounds, they come right back on!

This is what I have been struggling with for the last few years. I have always been in great shape. I mean really great shape. 15 years ago I got divorced and there went the time and the money! No more personal trainer, massages, facials, I had to go to work and support myself. I kept thinking that someday when I get settled I'll start working out again. After all I still look pretty good. I only gained about 1 to 2 pounds a year, ate a lot of steak and potatoes with my boyfriend and before I knew it I was 56 and 20 pounds over weight.

I tried to start exercising and I would start and stop and start and stop dreading every minute as I was always starting over. So then, I created a group where we all come and work out together! Then when they showed up -- I could not talk myself out of a work out! Now I love it! I can't imagine my life without exercise! But, the 20 pounds -- it's still here!

I am a health and wellness educator, I help others lose over 50 pounds and reach their goals, I KNOW what to do. How is it that I can't make it happen for myself? Then it hit me, doctors do not diagnose themselves, therapists do not do therapy on themselves! Just like my customers, I need a coach! So I am just 4 days into my meal plan and working out with a personal trainer and I am so excited because now, I believe! I believe my coach won't let me down, I have someone to push me, encourage me, support me when I reach the point of stopping or quitting!

AND, I am so excited for the first time in 5 plus years (I don't remember) I am under a 150 pounds! Truth is I was feeling a little discouraged this morning and thank God the scale motivated me! Yes, I know, if you are one of my customers, how many times have you heard me say don't worry about the scale! I, just like you, love to see the hard work pay off and see the results in the scale!
