Build a strong immune system to prevent colds and flu by eating fresh fruits and vegetables, rich in vitamins and antioxidants. Without fresh produce in your diet, your immune system will be ill equipped to handle viruses, and you will be more susceptible to illness.

Eat a wide variety of vegetables in a rainbow of colors to maximize your sources of antioxidants and to provide your body with essential vitamins, nutrients, dietary fiber and phytochemicals. Include red, green, orange, yellow and purple vegetables.

Diet, Diabetes and Paula Deen

Diet, Diabetes and Paula Deen: The Case for Loving Food That Loves Us Back
David Katz, M.D.

But I'm not inclined to wag a finger at Ms. Deen. Nor do I want to wade into the debate about her advocacy for a particular diabetes drug to treat a condition she need not have developed in the first place.

I want simply to talk about the opportunity to love food that loves us back, and the fundamental importance of making that the prevailing norm.

Desires NOT Resolutions

Welcome January! The Holidays are over and now it's time to get back to business! I chose not to make any New Years Resolutions this year. Instead, I reflected on my desires for 2012. My desires are to continue on my journey to practice a healthy lifestyle and encourage others to do the same. I desire to purchase a 1995 Harley Davidson Bad Boy Motorcycle, I desire to teach and inspire a team to have comma's in their pay checks, I desire to be a Dr. Sears L.E.A.N. Coach, I desire to have the money and the freedom to jump on a plane at my choice to be in Seattle for my grand kids birthdays, Holidays, school events. I desire to spend more time hiking, and enjoying my girlfriends at dinner or movies.

Here's where I am so far: I have purchased the Dr. Sears L.E.A.N. Coaching program and we are in lesson one, LEAN Kids. I am so enthused with what I am learning and just can't wait to share it with all of you! Yesterday, I closed the office early and went to movie and dinner with a good friend. I have a savings plan for my Motorcycle and I have joined a hiking group and will be hiking this week. And I have my wonderful team who are truly reaching beyond themselves to gift and share the power of whole food nutrition and Juice Plus! 2012 what a great year!

Feb 2 and 3 we have Paul Williams, M.D. speaking in Tucson and Phoenix! I invite you to make health your hobby this year and come for just one hour once a month to learn simple and easy changes you can make to your health!
