Breast Cancer Charity Overstates Value of Mammograms

Breast Cancer Charity Overstates Value of Mammograms: Researchers

THURSDAY, Aug. 2 (HealthDay News) -- The breast cancer charity that brought the world the pink ribbon exaggerates the benefits of mammography while minimizing its harms, researchers claim.
The organization in question is the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which stated in a 2011 advertisement that the five-year survival rate for breast cancer when caught early is 98 percent, while it is only 23 percent if not caught early.
"The survival statistics they present are eye-catching and compelling. They imply that a woman would be crazy and irresponsible if they didn't go for screening," said Dr. Steve Woloshin, co-author of the article challenging the charity. "But the statistics are deceptive."

This will come as a shock to most people because we are constantly bombarded with early detection, screening etc.  Just as we are bombarded with "drink milk"!  I no longer consume any dairy and I do not get mammograms!  What am I going to do:  wait until they diagnose me and then start practicing a healthy lifestyle?  This is a personal decision and choice.  If I were to be diagnosed, I am not going the typical practice of operation, chemo, radiation, etc.  I would much rather check myself into Canyon Ranch and completely immerse myself the the freshest fruits and vegetables, yoga, meditation, and relieve stress.

These are practices I do now anyway.  So the chances of me getting disease are very minimal.  However, I have stresses and I am not perfect just like anyone.  So I would immerse myself in the healing of my mind and body.

Here's to your health.  Please eat as many fresh, raw, vine ripened fruits and vegetables as you can, drink lots of filtered water, reduce your intake of processed foods and chemicals, exercise, get lots of rest, reduce your stress and eat JuicePLUS+
