According to the National Weather Service, an Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for the Valley for the remainder of the week with temperatures expected between 109-113 degrees. An Excessive Heat Warning is defined as an "extreme heat index
making it feel very hot, typically above 105 F (43 C) for 3 hours or
more during the day and at or above 80 F (27 C) at night." (National Weather Service)

Exercising outside today? Please plan accordingly: HYDRATE at least an hour BEFORE the activity; maintain hydration during the activity with WATER or an ELECTROLYTE SOLUTION. RECOVER after the activity with beverages containing electrolytes or low-sugar sports drinks.

Protect your skin and eyes from burns and damage.
Wear lightweight, light-colored, long-sleeved clothing, a hat,
sunglasses. Also, consider using a broad-spectrum, sweat-proof sunblock
or sunscreen.

Some people are more susceptible to heat stress
during high temperatures and are advised to limit outdoor activities.
If you have been SICK, are on a restrictive DIET, are lacking SLEEP, or haven't EATEN all day, STAY OFF THE TRAILS in the heat! These factors affect your performance! So, eat, sleep, and be healthy...the trails will wait for you!
