Let's Play a Game

I am getting ready to play a 2nd go around of the Game on Diet.  The Diet where you get to shrink your own butt while you are kicking your friend's butt!  It is too much fun!  The first 4 weeks were practice for me!  As soon as I said I will do this, I immediately rebelled against the rules! I ate worse and exercised less than I did before the game! So that was a lesson about me! Does not like to be told what to do, follow the rules or play well with others! Ha!

What I do love about this "Game on Diet" (google it, buy the book, visit their website) is that it is not about losing weight -- it is about getting fit -- being healthy!  So we are practicing healthy habits! I love it!

Want to play with us? Just let me know!

Fake Obesity Experts

Fake Obesity Experts
A lot of top obesity "experts" say they know what makes people fat, and how to fix it.
The only problem is: they just can't seem to do it where their own body is concerned!
How is it that fat people can get on television posing as obesity experts?
We all know there's one group of weight loss experts who aren't fat -- those who teach a healthy, whole food, plant-based diet.

Is it Time to Stop Taking A Multivitamin?

DAVID KATZ, M.D.: IS IT TIME TO STOP TAKING A MULTIVITAMIN?

This is great. The ultimate question – to multivitamin or not to multivitamin :)
Why do we take multivitamins? I know for me it is all about prevention. I want to make sure my family and I, receive all the necessary nutrients to stay healthy, to support our bodies and our organs, to maintain strong immune system and keep it all in balance.
berriesWhy not get this assurance from nutrition, from real food, from what I eat? Well in my experience, there are few downfalls in relying solely on the food we eat to maintain a strong healthy body:
  1. I can never be sure, especially with my kids, that they eat enough of vegetables, fruits and berries.
  2. Even if they do eat plenty, is there enough variety to get all the necessary nutrients the body needs to grow and stay healthy?
  3. The produce I buy at the supermarket and even at the local farm store had to travel for days to get here and the level of nutrients is depleted. To get the most out of our fruits, vegetables and berries, we have to eat them as fresh as possible.
  4. It costs a lot of money to buy all organic and all locally grown  - and still it may not be as fresh as I would like it to be.
  5. Also cooking vs. eating raw  - if most vegetable we eat are cooked  - do we still get the full nutritious value of these vegetables?
  6. Even when juicing, I consume limited variety of produce, and much still depends on its’ freshness.
According to Dr Katz, we still need the nutritional support system but it needs to be based on whole-food and Juice Plus+ (he provides a link to it in the article) according to him is one such supplement:

“Such products are “humble” in the sense that they don’t presume to know how to combine nutrients — they let nature do it. They simply compress the nutrients from healthful foods into pill form so that those who don’t eat quite as they should — including children — can fill in the gaps”
- the next best thing to fruits and vegetables.
To your health!
